Running Partner

I returned on January 1, 2016 extremely focused, “Just tread the first 15 miles as a warmup and then you will reach twenty.” Twelve miles into the run while working through a wet bog in a local park (Princess Anne), I came across and picked up a hand-sized little cow stuffed animal wearing a cloth billboard that read Eat Mor Chikin’. I have named him Anton Emil Zatopek after two inspiring runners – Anton Krupicka and Emil Zatopek. I strapped him in with a waist drawstring on my Columbia rain jacket. He hung on tight as we caressed several grass inclines on the lengthy return route home. In addition to liking long runs of 15-20 miles on a soft surface in natural settings, I also discovered Anton has a great sense of humor; he doesn’t talk much but everybody I crossed paths with was smiling – they found him very amusing.
